South Kensington Duplex

In this project, our client had acquired the apartment above their own in a spacious converted house, connected only via the communal stairs. Our brief was to design a new stair to directly connect each apartment via two principal rooms, compact and space-saving. We opted for a spiral rising out of the corner of the kitchen, constructed with a steel core and covered with a smooth matt white plastered finish to match the existing walls and ornate moulded ceiling. A concealed pelmet light within the recessed handrail illuminates the timber treads.
